The ‘Iolani Summer Programs offer a wide variety of enrichment and reinforcement courses, as well as a 1-week Golf program.
Courses are designed to meet student needs, not only in preparation for their upcoming academic school year, but also to provide enrichment in subjects of interest, reinforcement, and opportunities for self-expression and creativity. In addition to the many courses offered for all summer students on campus every summer, the Residential Program is creating unique offerings in the areas of Marine Science, STEM, Hawaiian culture, and SSAT Prep. Residential students are provided with an iPad Pro by the school.
Residential summer students stay in the ‘Iolani Residence Hall, centrally located on campus, and thoughtfully designed with student comfort, social needs and safety in mind. Summer residential students will enjoy sharing their spacious dorm room with a roommate and forming a close-knit community on their floor of up to 26 students. Students reside on the top four floors of the five-story Residence Hall. Dorm parents reside on the bottom floor to care for each single-sex floor community and in the summer program, adults reside on each student floor as well. Each floor has its own bathroom, kitchen area and student lounge, along with a designated study space equipped with computers. In addition to the community space on each floor, the Residence Hall boasts a large ground-floor common room for students to relax after classes and activities, and spend time with friends. All on-campus meals take place in the Student Center, located near the Residence Hall.
For applicants, if English is not the first language, we require proof of English proficiency beginning with a handwritten Student Statement that will be provided. If further proof of proficiency is required, we accept either Duolingo English or TOEFL Jr. test scores. We recommend the Duolingo English Test as it is a convenient test to access online.
