Drive through Natchez Trace, where scenic roads reveal changing leaves and winding bends perfect for a family photo-op. Your kids will love to stop for hiking, biking, and even horseback riding opportunities along the trails. With camping available as well, you can prolong your trip and revel in the adventure. Gulf Island National Shore is also a gorgeous spot to bring the family. Build castles on the white sand beaches, tour an old fort, or cast a line and go fishing. With swimming and unique historic monuments to keep them busy, your little ones will definitely be tuckered out come bed time.

Jump into the rich museum scene, where the Mississippi Children's Museum offers a host of fun activities. Children will learn about cooking and nutrition at the Red Rocket Cafe, or develop a green thumb in their gardening classes. Kids who love to dance will get a kick out of "Shake Out the Sillies," and Tuesday classes on science and engineering are sure to give them an awesome head start. If they're looking for something more artsy, take your children to the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art, where they can join a summer camp highlighting all their favorite arts and crafts activities. Watch as your kid discovers how to make ceramics, learns to paint, and blooms into a talented artist. With space camps at the Infinity Science Center as well, kids can explore the beginnings of space travel and mysterious solar system.

Dive right in at the Institute for Marine Mammal Science, where a love of ocean creatures makes this place magical. Kids ages 6 to 14 can cultivate their inner marine scientist with summer camp classes specializing in hands-on learning and adventure. Enjoy the overnight "Dozing with Dolphins" program, where kids can hand feed the animals and watch training demonstrations. If your children want to see more animals, take them to the Hattiesburg Zoo to enjoy face-to-face encounters with critters such as the Nigerian Dwarf Goat. Whether they're petting a baby alligator or creating arts and crafts, your kids are sure to have a blast.
