MUNCIE -- For Alexis Meacham, spending Monday morning outside at Adventure Environmental Learning Center Challenge Education (better known as Camp Adventure) was the perfect beginning to a summer science lesson.

On the first day of Delta High School's Science Adventure Camp, Delaware Community Schools third- and fourth-graders learned teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking skills as they maneuvered through the low-ropes course, Delta High School science teacher and camp creator Lance Brand said.

After taking her turn on the hourglass -- a tightrope between two trees with ropes formed like an X on either side -- Meacham explained why she had a good time on the first day of camp.
