Amplify Sleep Away Rock Camp is a one-week overnight program offered to girls ages 11-17 years old and is held at Ojai Valley Boarding High School in Ojai, CA. Here girls of all skill levels have the opportunity to learn guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keys or other instruments. Girls will also form a band, write an original song, and perform at the Final Showcase for friends, families, and fans! Girls are mentored by our amazing all-female staff. Throughout the week, workshops are held on a variety of interesting, helpful, and awesome topics! Some workshops include: Songwriting, Rock 'n' Roll Herstory, Screen Printing & Band Art, Image & Identity, Performance Anxiety & Body Confidence, Media Literacy,DJ-ing, Self-Defense, Zine-Making, Beat Boxing, DIY recording, Alternate Instruments, DIY Band Posters, Button Art, High and low ropes courses and Punk Rock Yoga. Girls can also sign up for our new photography and film program and choose to be behind the scenes taking pictures and making movies as well. One or two visiting artists/bands play a live set, then they stick around to take questions from the campers. Past performers have included: Kirstin Candy, Natalie D-Napolean, Adele Shraiman, Street Outreach, Kate Graves, Sierra Reeves, Brandi Lentini, Jamey Geston, Susan Reeves, Kalinka, Sophie Rose…We are very lucky to get to host Amplify at such an exquisite facility. Set in the mountains of Ojai, CA, the school boasts one of the best views in Santa Barbara County. The girls will have private, air conditioned residence halls, A private pool, a movie theatre for evening films, and state of the art dining. Dormitories are supervised by dorm "parents". They typically share a dorm room with one other girl.

My experience with this camp has been phenomenal. The adult/youth ratio is usually 1 to 6 or better. The classes and workshops teach kids real life skills such as playing musical instruments, collaboration on a song writing process, screen printing, photography, journalism, and more. The food in the cafeteria is healthy and delicious. All around great experience!

My daughter attended this summer camp and I can truly say it was the best camp she has ever done! Not only did she learn how to play the drums in a week , but she made some great friends , feels more secure in who she is , and is counting down the days until she can go back this year. She wants to stay for all 4 weeks this summer!

I went last summer. Even though I had been playing drums for almost a year prior to coming to camp, some students have never even touched the instrument they played at camp and the teachers were able to give them all the skills they needed to write, play, and perform their own songs. I would recommend this camp to anyone, with experience and without. It was so much fun! All the counselors and other campers were very kind and supportive. All the counselors definitely know what they're doing. Jen is such a great person to run this camp! I can't wait to come back this summer. :)

Amplify Sleepaway campers loved spending the week up in Ojai! The girls had a great showcase at the end of the week, there was so many amazing original songs performed. The campers also got to screen print shirts and participate is cool workshops like self defense and songwriting. It's a very welcoming space to everyone!

My 12 year old daughter loved the summer camp program. She loved meeting new girls, feeling empowered and creating her own rock song. Overall it was a positive experience. I would encourage all girls to attend. Remember - no experience necessary - they teach you everything!

Girls Rock SB has amplified so many positive qualities in my daughter's life! Sisterhood, empowerment, strong voice, positive female role models, music education, language arts, group skills. All this while having a blast, rocking out, making strong friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime! We love Girls Rock SB!!

This is by far the best summer program our daughter has ever done. Every year it is all she talks about. She has made incredible friendships over the years and her love of music has flourished. The staff are fantastic! Couldn't say more good things
