Camp KIVU was established in 1996 under the name Kanakuk Colorado.  In 2001, the facility in Durango Colorado was built, and in 2008, Andy and Jamie Jo moved to Durango to facilitate a place where teenagers can come experience adventure in the outdoors while learning the Christian Worldview.

The Braners and the KIVU Team are driven to help teenagers learn valuable life lessons as they experience the Creator inside the boundaries of the Creation.  Rock Climbing, Backpacking, Fly Fishing, Mountain Biking, Road Biking, River Rafting, and a waterfront program on Vallecito Lake make KIVU an exciting, adventurous place for any teenager.  If you're interested in experiencing something new, and making friends from around the world, Camp KIVU is the place for you.

You might say, "WOW, if they have all that stuff, it sounds like a teenager's dreamland."  And you'd be right.  But we don't stop there.

Statistics out in the teenage world today tell a grim story about the lives our kids are living.  They're Lonely.  They're Tired.  They're over worked.  They're living under constant pressure.  They're crying out for someone to walk through life with them.  And we believe we can help.

A key component to KIVU is the mentorship and training portion of the program helping teenagers explore the deepest parts of Faith.  With a curriculum designed to be teen friendly, the staff at Camp KIVU want to help guide and direct students to an understanding of the Chrisitan Worldview.  We believe as students go off to the University with a solid foundation of Faith, they'll be prepared to excel in their academic life, their social life, and their understanding of Who God is and why they serve Him.

In 2005, Andy and Jamie Jo began the international adoption process.  As they continue the leadership here at KIVU, there is a longing to reach out to the world as a follower of God to make a difference.  We have been taking students all over the world for the last 8 years to help introduce them to world leaders, issues concerning other cultures, and methods they can use to share their faith.

KIVU is a place that partners with families and communities around the globe to help teenagers engage in a life with all the gifts God made in them.

There are exciting things going on here at KIVU, and we hope you'll come and join us in the abundant life God came to give us.

It is an amazing camp whether they are teens or kids. It is all about nature, Eco Green. They have talent shows, parties (NO ALCOHOL). Back packing, kayaking, canoeing, river rafting, Z Line, mountain climbing, mountain cycling. Men competitions, optional. It is about endurance. My son is a very competitive teen, so he entered a very tough competition. He loved the camp, it brought him out of his shell. He played drums infront of 183 people, where as he is normally shy to play drums infront of his friends even. They have debates i.e, abortions, sex before marriage etc,. It is a Christian Camp, and the camp is extremely scenic, the atmosphere there is full of peace and love. It is about LOVE GOD AND LOVE OTHERS. It is not intimidating for none Christians, at all, my son is not. I believe it built his character.
