Independent Lake Camp

Independent Lake Camp is a Superior Pocono Mountain Summer Camp dedicated to a diverse community, committed creativity, superb facilities, and powerful, individualized programming. Independent Lake Camp offers 600 boys and girls ages 6-17 the option of four 2-week sessions. We offer many exciting programs including circus, land sports, visual arts, performing arts, mountain biking, academics, rock music, water sports, role playing games, video, radio, cooking, computers, tennis, golf, ropes course, SAT prep, horseback riding, creative writing, poetry, mountain boarding, magic, newspaper, rollerblading, skateboarding, climbing wall, hockey, go-karts, rocketry, swimming pool, BMX biking, robotics, fitness & weight training, and much more. We cater to each child's individual needs and respect each child's individuality.

CIRCUS

Our circus program is popular with every camper, from the absolute beginner to the circus veteran. We train and work hard together throughout the session to produce an amazing show on Performance Day. At Circus we encourage creativity and the learning of new and different skills within a safe and welcoming environment for children of all ages and skill levels. Our enthusiastic and zany staff are a favorite with campers, who always have an exciting and entertaining experience, no matter what the activity might be.

We aim to foster confidence in our campers and hope that they feel a sense of achievement about what they have accomplished, especially when their family and friends can come and support them on performance day.

ROCK MUSIC

The Rock Shop is comprised of campers and counselors from across the globe creating an eclectic mix of musical tastes and styles. We have a fully equipped studio and stage allowing us to teach a variety of rock orientated instruments with lessons individually tailored toward the needs of complete beginners all the way to more experienced, advanced players. As well as guitar, bass and drum lessons, we also offer lessons in song writing, focusing on song structure and the art of writing lyrics. We also offer a band prime allowing groups of campers to work together under the close guidance of a counselor toward a final performance and the end of the session. The Rock Shop also puts on a variety of performances and shows throughout the summer including ILC Woodstock, an evening long music festival, and Greased, a musical collaboration with the Theatre Department, putting a new twist on the classic Broadway show and movie. SPORTS

We have skilled instructors for the major sports like basketball, tennis, volleyball, soccer and golf, but we also offer Team and International sports, archery and table tennis. For kids that want to get in shape or train for an up coming session, we have running clubs and weight and fitness classes. The sports department prides themselves on teaching skills. WATERFRONT, THE TRADITIONAL CAMP ACTIVITY

For the adrenaline junkies, we have a proficient water-ski and wakeboard program, with highly trained staff who can tweak the expert or get a novice on top of the water within days. Furthermore, the banana boat and tube provide thrills and spills for the campers who just want to go fast and get wet. The Waterfront however also caters for the more relaxed camper: the kayaks, sail and paddle boats allow for relaxing afternoons on the water and the two beaches create an ideal spot to enjoy the company of friends. With enthusiastic staff, all highly trained in their fields and with a strong emphasis on safety the waterfront is a great place to be. We also boast an in-ground heated pool with a spectacular view of Elk Mountain all supervised and run by a fantastic staff of trained lifeguards and instructors. Campers can find a range of activities from beginner swim instruction to stroke and endurance improvement to all round body fitness through water aerobics. For those campers more interested in spending a relaxed afternoon beside the water, we also have daily pool parties.
