Activities include tumbling, partner acrobatics and yoga, magic, balance pipe, walking globe, stilts, juggling and other prop manipulation and clowning, theater creative movement games. Props include hula hoops, poi, ribbons, flower sticks and more. We will learn new tricks and create our own. Fun themes will let the children's imagination run wild. Arts and crafts will be woven into our day as the children make juggling balls, masks, puppets, ribbon sticks and learn face painting. The camp will culminate with a show for family and friends.
Motion Magic Camps are located at The Portland Village School 7654 N Delaware Avenue and Buckman Elementary 320 SE 16th Ave.
In addition to three weeks of non-themed camps we offer the following themed camps:
Sailing the Seven Sea's: A Pirate Camp
During this three day camp we will become pirates, hunt for hidden treasure, don pirate garb and learn pirate slang. Creative movement and gymnastics will be woven into our day as we learn sword play, walk the plank, swing from the rigging, and tumble our way overboard.
Motion Magic is partnering with ABCPDX for the following camps:
K-2 will be doing movement with Motion Magic in the AM and story-telling with ABC PDX in the PM. Grades 3-5 will be doing story-telling in the AM and movement in the PM. Students can sign up for either section as a half-day program.
Wizards, Elves, and Faeries: An Adventure through Buckman's Magical Realm
Through movement and story-telling we will bring to life our own mythical creatures. Half of the day will be spent hearing and creating wild tales of fantasy, venturing outside of the classroom in search of magical ingredients, and developing our own beasts. The other half will be spent bringing these stories to life through movement, theater, tumbling and instruction in the magical arts of hula hoops, feathers, ribbons and wands. The week will culminate in a fantastical performance for the parents.
The Big Top: The Spectacles and Stories of the CircusRun away and join the circus! In addition to circus skills we will explore the wacky characters that live under The Big Top. We will clown, juggle, stilt walk, make human pyramids, balance and tumble our way through half the day. We will delve deeper into the stories surrounding the people of the circus through silly skits, marionette-making, role playing and outrageous story-telling during the rest of the day. Don't forget to attend the circus show for friends and family at the end of the week!
