The Canisius Center for Professional Development (CPD) and School of Education and Human Services present Steve Tasker's Self-Leadership Experience. The three-day leadership program for high school students will be held at the Canisius campus.
Best known as one of the greatest wide receivers and special teams players in NFL history as a member of the Buffalo Bills, Steve Tasker will draw from his professional experiences on and off the field to help motivate and inspire students during the summer leadership program. Topics covered will range from public speaking and effective networking to ethical decision making, goal setting, how not to ruin your reputation on social media and how to be a team player.
Tasker will be present at the beginning of each day to provide a welcome, leadership messages, and overview of the importance of the day's topics. At the end of day three, Tasker will present certificates of completion to all participants.
"Developing excellent personal skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership and success in every profession," says Tasker. "This program will provide participants with the necessary skills to distinguish themselves amongst their peers."
Pete Herr will serve as the head leadership coach for the program. Herr, a published author, blogger, speaker, and award-winning teacher, spent the last 20 years educating and mentoring high school students. He recently published his first book, "10 Things We Should Teach You in High School and Usually Don't."
