IMagination Camp
Journey through the wacky, wild and wondrous world of your imagination! This program is designed for our youngest campers (K-5) and with their needs in mind. Laying the foundations for effective collaboration (in an age and developmentally appropriate way), young people play hard and play with purpose while being introduced to and developing the skills of the creative theatre arts. We paint with our hands, make up silly songs, and flex our imaginations! A ridiculous amount of fun – you never knew you could be this silly and learn so much!
Summer Theatre Camp
Welcome to the Tribe! This is Yes! And… Collaborative Arts' flagship program – because it’s where it all began! Inspired by the model for arts education developed by MUSE Theatre Company in 1988, Summer Theatre Camp is truly an Adventure in Play! With a focus on the process of collaborative art making and imaginative play Yes! And… Collaborative Arts invites young people to the edge of their own imaginations and beyond!
Campers (generally ages 8-13) become members of small ‘tribes’ – the central unit to their camp experience. Within the context of these tribes, young people create imagined identities, roles, shared history, myths, and story – all through their play and work in daily classes including Acting, Dance/Movement, Visual Arts and Storytelling/ Playwriting. (There are no prior arts requirements needed!)
This directed, imaginative play becomes the material of a final script, choreographed dances, sets and costumes…each Summer Theatre Camp experience ends with a celebration of the collaborative and creative work…a World Premiere Performance imagined, created, produced and performed by the campers themselves!
High School Fringe Festival Camp (With SHADOW Company)
Our Summer Arts Intensive immerses high school students in ensemble-based theatre training, master classes, and training across artistic disciplines. Students participate daily in an intense ensemble actor-training program developing the essential theatre-making (and life) skills of listening, safe space, and effective group process. Specialized master classes and collaborative arts training (in movement/dance, the visual arts, creative and play writing, and music composition) diversify their experience and skill sets, exposing students to the wide and varied possibilities of the arts. As a young ensemble, students are then asked to operate as their own theatre company (called SHADOW Company). With the guidance and collaboration of Yes! And… Collaborative Arts staff, they go to task creating, producing, and performing an original work of theatre that we perform for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
