Vermont Summer Academy at Green Mountain College Art Programs

Vermont Summer Academy at Green Mountain College (GMC) is a co-ed academic program for rising eighth through 12th-grade students. Located in Poultney, Vermont, GMC provides a wonderful backdrop to students looking for an amazing summer of academic and personal growth.

Our new academic summer program allows students to explore their academic passions. We introduce them to subjects that their schools may not offer, while encouraging them to experiment with classes to see if they would like to pursue one as a career.

Students choose one course per session. Students can attend any session; each session starts fresh. Students who attend for more than one session receive a discount on their tuition, and they can stay on campus between sessions for free (while still being supervised of course).

VSA gives rising eighth - 12th-grade students the opportunity to immerse themselves in one course of study for a two-week period. Each curriculum is designed around student involvement. Faculty incorporate students’ needs and interests into the lessons so that each class becomes a unique exploration. All courses are hands-on and project- based. In all courses, students practice the critical skills of collaboration, critique, project planning and presentation. Two of the most important themes academically at Green Mountain College are sustainability and entrepreneurship. That is why our program curriculum features these concepts for all courses and sessions. All courses weave these two concepts throughout the curriculum. Seminars and evening sessions reinforce these two important concepts.
