Job Description
The fifteen AmeriCorps Respite Apprentices serving at Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Respite Camp will provide personal care and therapeutic recreation activities that encourage healthy lifestyles for people with disabilities. Responsibilities include: Provide ideas for, plan and lead camp programs. Assist campers to participate fully in recreation activities. Accept responsibility for the overall health and safety of campers. Assist, instruct and supervise campers in personal care skills. Members receive training on how to provide recreation and care for people with disabilities, CPR, first aid, conflict resolution, and civic participation. This summer member will serve a minimum of 900 hours while living at camp from May 23-August 20, 2011. Members are provided with extensive training as well as room and board, a living allowance of $2,000 and, upon successful completion of the full term of service, an education award of $2,675.Job Criteria
