Position: Rock Climbing Instructor Organization: Stone Mountain Adventures Location: Huntingdon, PA near Penn State University Overview of organization: Stone Mountain Adventures (SMA) is a co-ed camp for 12-16 year olds located in central Pennsylvania near Penn State University. We are small summer camp with only 60 Campers & 14 Camp Counselors. At Stone Mountain Adventures, we believe that individuals should be challenged to step beyond their own abilities: To ride with confidence, to climb with technique, to control the sail, to bike one more hill. Stepping beyond also means personal growth: developing self-reliance; trusting in new friendships; learning to be sensitive to the needs of others in community. Our adventure activities include: -rock climbing -mountain biking -sailing -whitewater rafting -waterskiing -canoeing -caving -wake boarding -windsurfing -horseback riding Our Athletic Activities include: soccer, tennis, ultimate frisbee , basketball, golf, Frisbee golf, touch rugby, softball, flag football, etc. We also do arts studio, music making, service projects and many more. Position responsibilities: We are currently hiring ROCK CKIMBING INSTRUCTORS. We are very lucky to have 70’ crags on site with 20 climbs ranging from 5.3 to 5.12. We also have 2 other locations we can climb at as well. At SMA we certify our campers to belay so you will not be a belay slave. The other good news is that when you are not climbing you get to lead other the other exciting adventure activities we offer. Responsibilities Include: -Run ground school / belay training -Setting up top rope climbs using natural anchors -Setting up rappels with a lower able anchor -Monitoring top rope site -Demonstrating climbing techniques (you get to climb most days!) -Maintain climbing equipment -Lead other camp activities (sports, white water rafting, mt biking, service) Position qualifications: Applicants should have the following qualifications: -experience building anchors -experience managing a top rope site -have a positive outlook on life -Be excited about the prospect of getting paid to "play & climb” for the summer. -Be 21+ years old -Have a valid drivers license. Dates of employment: 6/15 - 8/20 Benefits: Contract Salary $1700 to $2200 Depending on Experience. Room & Board Included.
