Job Description

Position Summary:

A TLA Specialist is responsible for delivering week-long specialty curriculum & activities to campers.

 

Position Objective/Purpose:

We are seeking motivated team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and who display a record of achievement in effective supervision & management of youth, building positive relationships and ensuring the safety and well-being of people of all ages.

 

Position Scope Factors:

·         Travel required

·         Week-long specialty programs offered;

o   Musical Theater - The Wizard Of OZ: Campers take the stage as an actor, vocalist, dancer or stage crew member and discover all aspects of drama and musical theater including auditioning, acting and improvisation, movement, dance and choreography, music, theatrical make up, stage management, sound technology, and more.

§  Performing Arts or Theater Education degree (preferred)

§  Drama instructor with experience working with youth (preferred)

§  Experience directing all aspects of a musical production (required)

§  Theatre experience (required)

§  Note: This is a 2 week TLA

 

o   Digital Photography: Campers explore the different styles of photography, learn about the functionality of a digital camera, and develop artistic ideas through composition, depth, and lighting.

§  Know, understand, use and teach all functions of digital camera

§  Experience with digital photography editing systems

§  Digital Photography degree (preferred)

§  Digital photography experience (required)

 

o   Engineering & Design: Campers will be called upon to design and build a piece of equipment that will retrieve parts and deliver products. Innovative and design thinking will be required to determine their equipment’s energy source, to create its propulsion systems, and to devise its loading and unloading devices.

 

o   Outdoor Adventure: Campers conquer a forty-foot climbing tower that challenges campers of all skill levels under the watchful eye of our experienced instructor and the security of a belay. They embark on a journey of self-discovery through cooperative games, trust building activities and group initiatives. They will also learn valuable wilderness survival tips, outdoor living skills, basic orienteering, trail ethics and more.

§  Extensive personal experience rock climbing

§  Demonstrated expertise in this activity

§  Experience teaching the skills associated with rock climbing including but not limited to; safety, belaying, attire, climbing, equipment

§  Experience conducting daily safety checks and maintaining the upkeep of equipment

§  Knowledge of wilderness survival tips, outdoor living skills, basic orienteering, and trail ethics (preferred)

 

o   Circus & Magic:  Campers learn circus techniques such as juggling, plate spinning and clowning, and discover the secrets to performing tantalizing illusions and sleight-of-hand magic tricks with coins, cards, ropes, handkerchiefs and more. Campers also design, build, and decorate props, games, and booths for the end-of-the-week carnival. 

§  Experience teaching juggling, plate spinning and magic

§  Art background (preferred)

 

o   Music Production: Campers explore the fundamentals of songwriting and music production and discover various playing techniques under the direction of a professional producer.

§  Knowledge of/experience with musical editing software (required) i.e. garage band

 

o   ESF Cake Boss: Campers learn a wide variety of cake decorating tips and techniques used by professional cake decorators such as creating icing roses, applying borders and making fancy fondant accents! Ultimately, they will work together to create a themed cake utilizing all of the decorating skills that they have acquired. After all of the impressive finishing touches have been applied, they will dash to deliver their confectionary work of art.

§  Culinary experience (required)

§  Cake decorating experience (preferred)

 

o   Rocketry: Following in the footsteps of Galileo, Copernicus, and Newton, campers will immerse themselves into the fascinating world of science as you will lead them on a journey through space travel and exploration. They will soar to new heights while exploring the laws of motion and the physics of rocket flight including propulsion, lift, drag, velocity, aerodynamics, and more!

§  Experience teaching Science (required)

§  Rocketry background (preferred)
