Cool off on a hot day at Water Works Family Aquatic Center. Kids will have a blast as they speed down one of the two thrilling tube slides, turn through the twisting body slide, or frolic in the refreshing waterfalls, sprinklers, and geysers. Relax and let the current pull you along the lazy river, or just take a swim. Toddlers can splash safely in the shallow pool, and swish down a cheerful frog slide. Break for a picnic lunch, enjoy the shade in a cabana, or dig and play in the sand.

Board a train at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad for an exciting excursion. Kids can enjoy scenic views and engage with an optional audio tour that will put the scene outside the window into context. Head out on an easy, kid-friendly bike ride to one of the boarding stations, then hitch a ride back to the city on the train. For a special experience, enjoy brunch aboard during the weekend, or spend a Day Out With Thomas for tons of kid's activities.

Visit hundreds of animals that come from all over the globe at the Akron Zoo, from lions to tortoises to jellyfish. Kids can get up close as they feed the farm animals, watch the daily animal show, or participate in a story safari. Have a family sleepover at the zoo to see what happens at nighttime. For a closer look at the daily duties of the animal keepers, take a behind-the-scenes tour. Kids ages 2 to 15 with a love for animals can also attend a Zoo Camp to learn even more.
