Pedal your way down the 7.5 mile recreational bike route at Burlington’s Waterfront Bike Path. Running down the Lake Champlain shoreline, the entire route offers beautiful views of the lake and Adirondack Mountains. The path offers a perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy a nice day with the kids. The path links to six major waterfront parks, so if you and the family need a place to take a rest, there are plenty of places to do so.
Hike and camp to your heart’s content at Smugglers’ Notch State Park. A perfect summer destination for families, the park is intertwined with hiking paths that offer excellent views of the surrounding wilderness. The surrounding area offers plenty of biking, rock climbing, and nature viewing activities to pass the day away. Smugglers’ Park is also in close proximity to Waterbury Center State Park, which offers day use for swimming, boating, and picnicking.
Strap on your skis and snowboards and hit the slopes at the Stowe Mountain Resort. Located on Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak, the resort offers plenty of skiing and snowboarding, hiking, and mountain biking options for visitors. The slopes and trails range from difficult double-black diamond levels to a nice selection of beginner trails, and there are even lessons for kids to take. The experience is centered around the lodge resort, which offers a spa, plenty of shopping, and there are more than 50 restaurants in town to choose from.
